- As of June 2005, Wanda H. became the new Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 343, she remains as Troop Committee Chair. Wanda has been a member of the troop since its start in 1999, and was a member of Pack 343 in 1998.
- As of January 14, 2005 Anthony Z. became the new SPL of T343. He is only the second scout to hold the position, following the stepping down of Brandon, SPL of over 5 years, As of June 17, 2005, Brandon is the new and first JASM of the Troop.
- GNYC Council has decided to do forgo plans to rename the Big Apple District into two seperate districts "Liberty" (Downtown area) and "Freedom" (Uptown area). We are still known as the Big Apple District. GNYC currently serves over 120,000 Boy Scouts in the five boroughs of New York.
- The Empire Scout Shop, located on the 4th Floor of the Empire State Building and the Camp Pouch Scout Shop at 1465 Manor Rd in Staten Island, have released new hours, including Saturdays. See below for more information.
The hours are as follows for the Empire Scout Shop:
Monday-Wednesday: 9:30am-6:00pm
Thursday: 9:30am-7:00pm
Friday: 9:30am-5:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am-2:00pm
